Re: To Keats

"Homer in a coma," loved that line, made me laugh, and sent me reeling away from your topic, completely threw me in the direction of the Simpson's! And so with that image in my head, will have to get it out before I can take your poem seriously. will re read it when my brain is cleared of ...

The Foundry man.

From chimney stalk, pours black volumes of smoke the foundryman's stoking, the fire up with coke. The furnace awakes from cauldron escapes, a wild hissing serpent thrashing about, white hot with anger comes slithering out. Encased in its moulding it settles to sleep, under thundering hammers repetit...

Re: Favourite Line or Couplet

The fist time I remember reading a poem was Robert Louis Stephenson's A child's Garden Of Verse, "and high up above and all moving about there where millions and millions of stars," don't know why but that line has always stuck in my mind. Another poem, that gave me inspiration was written...

Re: Two lives expressed as moments in movies

Really enjoyed reading this, a little bit scary I thought but very well written. I didn't like the set out of it, gave me a dizzy feeling, to far apart.
But interesting, sort of liked how you popped out of the box to do your own thing

Re: Fame Is Now The Name Of Everyone's Game

Had chance to call and re read your poem, and think you have an important message to bring from it. Very up to date especially with the young of today, who all want fame at any cost, but they also want fame without the work that needs to be put in. Ask any group of young teens what they want to be a...

Re: Death of steam (Manchester 1969)

Well thank you for your honest comments Neil, I like nothing better than honesty so don't be sorry, for how am I supposed to know if no one says? your comments are true I agree. Suppose the message was clear then in a way, for it had to be about the day the last working steam train pulled into Manch...

Re: when sleep stops being beautiful you

Ummmmm, Don't think I liked this at all. In my eyes, the first part was a story, the second bit, maybe a poem. The two combined did nothing for me if I'm honest. But one persons opinion doesn't make it the majority verdict.

An interesting poem, things in pockets, get you into, or out of trouble? Re: Bloody Murder

Again Suzanne thanks for positive feed back. I am seriously thinking of finding out alot more about the technicalities of poetry, The thing I'm afraid of is being out of my depth, amongst people far more learned than me. For I think serious poetry today is sort of a competition for the more academic...

Northern Frights

Ice rains down these valleys, shadows crawl across the peaks, Jurassic birds in clumsy flight, ghostly panthers creep. Mist descends eerie hills above were dragons sleep, Bogart stalk fairy dells, stealing dreams from wishing wells. In limestone quarries it's been known, to see a strange and evil gn...
