Addiction, Witchcraft & Suffocation

Suffocation “Is it really that unreasonable”, he asked himself, as he reached to open the curtains, “when looking up toward the heavens, to expect to be able to see the sky?” In this place however, at this as at most times of the year, unreasonable is exactly what it was. For reason and rational th...

pseudonymous, the first two lines refer to the discussion I'm having with SoundlessFall. The question, Is there right or wrong in nature, or are they human concepts that have no meaning outside of the human mind? I believe the latter, but am always prepared to ask, and face, the question. Thank You ...

Reply to SoundlessFall

SoundlessFall, the theory you speak of isn't really a theory at all, it is fact. But surely as humans we are naturally concerned with ourselves, the quality and longevity of our lives, and those of our loved ones. It would assuredly be much better for every other species on Earth if we fell into ext...

Reply to Bombadil

Bombadil, what you say cannot be disputed, but the matter at hand is not a moral question of right and wrong, but the practical point that it is ourselves we should be worried about saving, not the planet or future generations. There has to be a raising of global awareness on the immediacy and sever...

Woman

Politicians and The News - Can we believe them?

truth? A wise woman once said to her son, ‘Stay intelligent despite your education.’ Never allow the manifestations of perception To bypass the filtration of your intuition. The t in truth should never be capital, For human understanding is transient or cyclical, And knowledge construction is deepl...

The Butterfly

The line, 'We're wiping out the butterfly' refers to the mass extinction that is taking place due to climate change. Whenever publications like The Guardian cover the story, they generally refer to the number of species that have fallen into extinction in the last decade, with the butterfly being th...

Our Ecological Crisis - Catastrophy within our lifetimes?

We’re Losing It Is this the way it’s supposed to go? Should I just shrug and say, ‘Don’t you know!’ As this life goes and takes its toll? My bad luck is on a roll The oxygen is getting thin The moving walls are closing in And now I’ve finally realised That nothing matters in this life We’re wiping ...

It saddens me that intelligent people can choose to close their eyes when what the world needs is the common man to be woken up. If intelligent people can choose to look away, there is no hope for the rest, but if that is how you feel, this site has heard the last from me on the subject. I wish you ...

I thank you all for your contributions, and must confess that the girl in question, a gorgeous, sexy French 20 year old called Marlène, RAN, though I must add that I think that discovering I was 33 had a little more to do with it, but hey, you can't win em all! :)

I would like to thank everyone most warmly for their comments, particularly Virago for engaging with me on the issues raised, that is most appreciated. In answer to your question about what we can do to stand up to the powers that be, who lead us to our certain descruction, if not through conflict, ...

I think lacking forum type etiquette is a fair criticism, though I'm not lacking in manners, I can assure you. I'll become more accustommed to the ways of the site in time, and as for the poll, don't they just add a little fun? I really like when someone includes any kind of poll, serious or otherwi...

You say this isn't the place to engage in political discourse, but surely one of the key features of poetry is the potential for further, thought, discourse and dialogue inspired by the writing. Having the facility here to read a poem, then engage in dialogue on the issues raised with the author, as...

Double spacing

I too liked the poem very much. I disagree on the double spacing though. I think it helps the poem because it takes a while for the relevance of the title and the political theme to come into play and the double spacing seems to help in that buid-up.

Anyone who would like an in-depth discussion of my assertion that Iraq was invaded for material reasons should get in touch, as such a dialogue would be most stimulating and there's a great deal about the Iraq war, as well as the regime change in Afganistan, that is unknown to most of the population.

Rebuttal

What are you talking about? I discuss eroticism from the perspective of the five senses. We are, after all, dealing with a situation in which emotions have yet to play any part, the initial stage of visual attraction and stimulation.

Why Bush REALLY invaded Iraq - Can you handle the truth?

Bush, Blair or The Man in the Street? Which is the greater evil, would you say? The man who makes millions want to pray With heinous acts for which he’ll never pay, Or the man who sees, but just looks the other way? And what if he numbered not one, but ten, or a score, Or a hundred, or a thousand, ...
