Re: Are you Experienced?
Hi there, Kris - This subject was discussed at some length about a year ago: Discussion/Poetry Discussion/Beginners started by Ray, and running from 09 Sep 2022 to 13 Sep 2022. You, and anyone interested in the question, might find something useful there. Perhaps even some sort of solution. Or inspi...

Re: Stickies
Ray, this is utterly lovely. I do believe we all have our collections of stickies that occasionally haunt our internal (infernal?) "upstairs-cinemas". And how, O how I'd love to hear salacious poems in German being recited in an unrepentant Birmingham accent! I have no eddycasional suggest...

Re: Beginners
Tristan, I think it's a good idea you have there: One forum for poems of sonnet length or less, and one for longer stuff.
This may also make life easier when you're not in the mood for lengthy reads (when you're having one of those "short-brained" days).

Re: Beginners
Ray, I would've loved seeing you knocking on the nunnery door! ... And no, you didn't see me, 'cause I had already been arrested - after having knocked on another door that turned out to be the wrong one. Oh gosh. I even wrote a poem about it once. If I can find it, I'll post it. (I'm tempted to ded...

Re: Beginners
I’ve been thinking ... could the “Beginners” section possibly be renamed “ Beginners and Experimental ”? When you’re totally new to poetry writing, everything you try to write is an experiment. When you’re experienced, and want to try out poetic pastures where you’ve never really been before, you’re...

Re: Consider our ways
Thanks, Mac. Good to see you again! I hope to have returned, at least intermittently, to the writing business after quite a number of detours. I’m glad you noticed my attempt at offering my confession in the formal way; sometimes I feel as if I should plead my defence before the Great Ant-God in the...

Re: The One That Got Away
Hi again, Not – Yes of course, the Snark was a Boojum. Could’ve told myself so, if only I’d been properly awake. Now. I’ll start with an apology: Please disregard what I said about your rhyming. For some reason or other it irked me; but now I’ve looked through the entire caboodle once more (and I re...

Consider our ways
Consider our ways This morning I killed a little ant-girl. I did it intentionally. I did it with the convex side of a teaspoon. I've done it before, many times. I hate doing it. But I'll do it again and again. I refuse to have my kitchen invaded. O, our firmly anchored bodies. O, our shared urge fo...

Re: The One That Got Away
Hi, Not - I read this through last Sunday and again today. I agree it's a bunch of nonsense; but all the same the mere sound of it is quite catching. Let me say it sounds great (at least in my head); the rhythm and metre remind me of good old E.A. Poe. But some of your rhymes here could be more eleg...

Re: And If...Else
Ever since the very first time I saw this poem, it has intrigued me. Today it was as if it stood out more clearly. Is it about surveillance capitalism ? If so, it makes a sort of sense, to me at least. Andy Felt is a sort of mathematics guru, isn't he? (sorry, I never bothered to look him up) At any...

Hi, Caleb -
The forum you're looking for is right here.
If in doubt, see the introduction above, "Welcome to the A.O.B. Lounge".
We can chatter away about anything off-topic here.
And ... occasionally we do.
All the best,
Jane

Those two are truly terrific.
I like the way you handle boathouses, and the snailed church and those priesting mussels are irresistible.

Quite possibly, Seth.Antcliff wrote:Rob Nosis? Any relation of Hyp Nosis?
Once upon a time there was a kind of cleverish pun involved in this, but right now it eludes me. P'raps I should try to reconstruct, deconstruct, or repurpose it. Heh. The faculty of memory is never what it used to be.

Such a lot of new entries here, and I've been and made myself scarce for too long ... however much I'd like to, I'll hardly get around to wave flags and shout hooray to every single one on the list, so I say: Congrats to y'all.

Haven't tried it myself (not yet, I mean; at present I'm taking other measures), but probably will.
Good luck!

You're a good deal more than just "quite good" at this sort of game, I'd say.
