thanks for the reply but i suppose what that leads me on to asking is whether this loss in translation means that the poem is inferior, or second best - I'm not really wording this right but hopefully you get me.

does anyone know any websites with poets work on them. Specifically Richard Howard, but any information on this is much appreciated.

poetry translations

When reading poems not in their original language, for example Rimbaud or Baudelaire; when are you ever certain that it is an accurate translation or rather one that maintains what the poet intended for it? Thats my main problem.

quite liked this one. r u just settling for that prose poetry thing? I don't know any poetry lexicon to explain why I liked it so I aint much help.
I like the imagery, very 'domestic desperation' and a sort of sad resignation to the monotony of it all. Ease up on the allitertion though.

nice

real cute Bomb. A humorously, self deprecating post, although you must've spent a while doing this back whenever you wrote it, dont the pangs of nostalgia remind you of times when you quite liked this, afterall you did keep it.

No says you?

just read it

i know I'm late but just read this and it struck me more than most do. dunno if it was just the rolling alliteration or just that lush imagery you've managed to produce. Although I dont get why you used that word 'paradiddles.' Its just jarring me everytime I go over it, doesn't go with the haggard ...

(My first vilanelle, neva tried this before but I saw it on ur tutorials thought I'd give it a shot- need your feed back on this one or should I stick to prose-poetry.) See these cuts on my hand From where we played, scaling a wall Through pain of glass and sand Barriers protected us from this land ...

Thanks alot I might stick with the prose style then learn about the others from your tutorials.

Robert Johnson

(I've never done this before but I wanna learn, I apreciate your comments event the most vituperative. I haven't tried to put it any form cos I don't know how - Robert Johnson is a blues musician.) Hellhound on my trail, through travels across dust and dirt plains, reaching for the horizon and a hop...
