A compelling interview.

Waugh comes across as extremely vulnerable. But what most strikes me is the interrogatory technique of the interview. The interviewer asks questions and Waugh answers, at his leisure. It's sort of like how I imagine a psychoanalysis to be. But it's strictly binary, many of the questions are yes/no. Then as the interview goes on, the interviewer probes more deeply and personally, and Waugh seems not to notice, or more likely, to accept it with relatively good humour. It's the antithesis of the modern celebrity interview.

What I like most of all is the honesty on both sides, the lack of grandstanding or dissembling.
