Alistair Macleod

Was Albert Camus a better goalkeeper than George Orwell? Have your say here.

I'd like to write short stories like Alistair Macleod. I'm reading The Lost Salt Gift of Blood slowly, because I keep rereading parts.

Is he the Newfoundland writer, Jackie? If so, I read a collection of his years ago, and I remember being very impressed.

Cheers

Hi David,

From Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. He has such a strong voice. I think he takes the care over his writing that poets do. Even in his novel, No Great Mischief, you don't find extraneous sentences.

I think the stories in The Lost Salt Gift of Blood are included in a later collection, Island.

A new name to me, Jackie. Thank you.

Well, the author is new. :D The name is far from new.
