Apologies
Sorry for the problems over the last few days. The webhosts upgraded something which had a knock on effect with PG. They then denied it was a problem at their end and I have been having conversations off and on all weekend with the hosts and with phpbb. Finally the hosts have sorted it.

Sounds familiar. I have an online business which uses a shopping cart programmed in the PHP language. My hosting company upgraded the PHP language on all their servers, and my shopping cart, which was written in an older version of the language, stopped working. Hosting companies should never do wholesale upgrades of their servers without clearing it with their customers first.
