I get frequent 'Activation Required' requests for newly registered users.

This requires me to either activate a new request or ignore it completely. I can only base the legitimacy of said request on the email address, or by looking further into the IP address, still, this is not an infallible system and could possibly ignore legit requests.

For example the last request was from:

Username: Lauriefrill
Email: 20xrumer1@farironalds.com

Dodgy AF I'd say, but who can tell?

Cheers
Kris

Thanks Kris. It is an onerous, and often thankless, task keeping these sites ticking over in the background.

First sentence disproves second sentence.
What is an AF anyway?

Dodgy As Fuck.

It's always hard to tell, but on the whole random/obscure email addresses such as - 20xrumer1@farironalds.com tend to give it away.

Had three this morning.

That never occurred to me. I thought AF must be something similar to IP. See the level of intelligence you're dealing with here. So what do you think these fraudsters are after? Caleb's thoughts on Minimalism in Modern Poetry?

Ah the world of acronyms...There is definitely a poem in there somewhere?

Haha. I do wonder how Caleb is doing, where he's plying his trade now? Probably wintering with his mother in Cincinnati, a cat and rain. Vim under the sink and both bars on. But old now. Old."

They are after accessing the various forums to post inordinate amounts of spam relating to the usual nonsense. Viagra usually, but I'm not sure of the current spam trends? This place is pretty locked down with no 'guest posting' so that does prevent loads of hassle.
