deleting on publication

G'day,
is it necessary for poems to be deleted if they are to be published from a thread, or is it OK if they stay on view?

the poet normally asks us to move the thread to Finishing Touch, which isn't viewable by the public.

Thank you, Ros, for your reply. I see my query was too general, what I wanted to know was whether deletion is a matter of etiqette or manners, or is there a legal necessity for copyright or other reason. Sorry not to have been clearer in my original q.

I suppose that would depend on whether you had a contract with the publisher. Often publishers of mags want 'unpublished' work - so not anything they can find on the web, so moving it to FT solves that problem. The copyright remains with the author. I don't think that there's any legal reason to remove anything otherwise. (But I'm not an expert.)
