How about Manchester? Closer than London for our northern contingent, and has an international airport for those keen to come from further away?

I wondered about us meeting for more of the day, perhaps going to one of the museums (eg MOSI, free and interesting) or galleries or somewhere, and then a meal and a reading in the evening as before. Anyone interested? Or have alternative ideas?

After the rip-roaring success of this year's event - I admit I only turned up at the tail-end of the first night's festivities, but it was my birthday - I would definitely be interested in repeating this. Don't know Manchester very well, though, and it doesn't seem to set the juices flowing for now. Still, can't think of anything better for the moment. I'll try though.

I'm sure Seth suggested Mull. That's magnificently impractical, but I'd make the effort for that. Bunessan Bakehouse here we come!

My order of preference for the mentioned possibilities

1. Mull......................huzzah!
2. Edinburgh
3. Manchester


However, I realise Mull may not be a good option for those living in the Deep South. (I couldn't get back by train in one day from Doncaster.) However Edinburgh may well be great. The old LNER service up from London is as swift as any service in the country and very easy. So I vote for Edinburgh.

York = possible, yes.

Knowing Manchester (and its international airport, nudge nudge) passably, it gets my vote. Edinburgh (or other UK regional airport) is OK too as I can always fly through London. Mull would be a bit trickier. York, kind of a hassle. The Cotswolds, like York but has potential for Spinal Tap-esque goings-on. Dublin is currently showing a nice low price with Aer Lingus and I've never visited.

I must admit I was hoping for Helsinki. Or Iceland.

My choice wold be, in order of preference:

1. Berkhamsted. The Old Mill. 0.25 miles from me. Failing that..
2. Manchester. Fine with me. Long time since I've been.
3. Edinburgh. Not keen. I'd feel obliged to visit all my rellies. I have about 46 there.
4. Helsinki - now there's an idea! Have to be in the Summer, though, so the temperature's above zero.

Good to do it again.

Having been favourably impressed by Manchester on my last visit I would be happy to go there. The Poets and Players events are always good if there is a chance to combine events. Edinburgh would also rank highly for me.

The easiest default seems to be Manchester in the Spring. Does Manchester have Spring? We could organise something more exotic for the year after.

Had a busy summer hence my absence from the forum.

Manchester's all right with me. I can commit to any date as long as it's a few months in advance.

We've only done it once before, it was great fun, and it's by no means a closed shop. The more the merrier. Until we get to the point where we have to start booking arenas.

Does anyone have any objections to the weekend of March 5th/6th? That would allow me to fly a satisfying triangle instead of two inefficient out-and-backs.

Weekend of March 19/20 would also work.
