Summer is here folks. And whilst I am all for serious workshopping and high literary ambition, I do think this can be consistent with a certain light heartedness. Imho we could do with lightening the mood around here a little. It is perfectly okay to muck about a bit.

Or quite a lot.

Whilst I've no objection to high jinks and japery, my own special plea is that we ought to be more patriotic on this poetry forum. I look in vain for the stirring ballads of our great days when giants like Kipling bestrode the earth. Where are the flag-waving emojis? Where the paeans to the Queen's hat? We must rouse ourselves, gentlemen!
I'm out of faith and in my cups
I contemplate such bitter stuff.

Ah, yes. The hat...suddenly some remoaners are born-again monarchists.
Makes me wonder whether we have ever had an overtly patriotic poem posted at PG. You are right, Ray. Where is the Light Brigade et al?
