Chartsoft's suggestions on attracting new members

I just wanted to weigh in on Chartsoft's suggestions about using Facebook and Twitter to publicize the forum.

I too loathe Facebook. Twitter I don't so much loathe, but don't understand.

However, I've been given the same advice when I had a personal poetry blog on Wordpress and was complaining that no one read it, from a person whose knowledge and experience with the Intertube is immense. So I think Chartsoft is giving accurate advice.

As a very new member, I'm hesitant to attempt either setting up a Facebook profile or going back into Twitter, but I'd like to see prole art threat thrive. But I have time on my hands as a retired geezer. So.......

What do others think (especially veterans of the site)?
