For refugees

How many poets does it take to change a light bulb?

Nice sentiment, shame about the poetry... was my reaction. Wonder what others think.

the
go home blacks
refugees
dirty immigrants
asylum seekers
sucking our country dry
niggers with their hands out
they smell strange
savage

And you are greeted on the other side

with

go home blacks, refugees

dirty immigrants, asylum seekers

sucking our country dry of milk,

dark, with their hands out

smell strange, savage –

It's interesting how niggers has been replaced by dark. A poet without the courage of her convictions or The Guardian getting squeamish?
I'm out of faith and in my cups
I contemplate such bitter stuff.

I confess I hadn't noticed that Ray, good spot. I suspect The Guardian (I always do) probably imposed self-censorship on the writer. Whatever the reason, all are guilty.

I wasn't much impressed by the lines they quoted from Warsan Shire's poem, but I think there are a lot of better lines than those in it, having now read it.
