'What I look for in a poem is the sense that I am somehow being addressed'.
I think accessibility is a common theme amongst editors, and readers, but is often an excuse for laziness. Communication is not a one way process. Of course, the ability to read or write varies, and I have appreciated many excellent readers over the years. I certainly appreciate editors who have to sift through a lot of poems. Time is a factor.
