These two are/were involved in Happenstance. Menos is editor of the Friday Poem. The last poem they dissect is the one preferred:

Another reminder of the sectarian nature of some/many poetry readers/writers.

The poems:

Enjoyed the poems myself, except the donkey one.

Some insightful thought from the world of the small press (quite optimistic too!)

'Why would you go out to buy more tins of baked beans if you have a cupboard full of them?'

An interview with the editors of Bad Lilies. I just read their latest issue and found their tastes eclectic and not ideological. However, their contributor cv's revealed no 'new voices'.

'What I look for in a poem is the sense that I am somehow being addressed'.

I think accessibility is a common theme amongst editors, and readers, but is often an excuse for laziness. Communication is not a one way process. Of course, the ability to read or write varies, and I have appreciated many excellent readers over the years. I certainly appreciate editors who have to sift through a lot of poems. Time is a factor.
