hmmmm, well I didn't know oatmeal had raisins in it.

So, your brain is a bowl of oatmeal. Well, a bowl of oatmeal is mushy so maybe your brain is in a state of mush, specially if you're seeing raisins that aren't there!? :)

Perhaps you have, as the French would say, a "gueule de bois"?

yeh, well, i couldn't think of what i was meant to do, and i supose this means that my brain felt a bit like mush, the confusing bit were the raisins, i can imagin them floating on top, or makinging hills in a perfeclty flat bolw of greyish yellow with a think layer or water on top. i spopse this means that i wasn't thinking right, and everything i though of something it would just be something good but not apropreate. anyways, thanx very much, now at least i wont have to be embarised when some one asks me what it means

 cheers

ps what does "gueule de bois" mean?

the way you spelled "raisons" it means "reasons" in french - a wonderful if possibly unintentional pun, keep it at all costs!

Dillingworth, I saw that too but forgot to mention it- too busy checking the correct spelling in dictionary.com ;)
