I don't know how Coleridge found time to do everything he did - He even managed to fit in being a spy for HMG in Malta! To escape bad debts, he did a spell in the Army under the name of Silas Tomkyn Comberbache. Definitely more than worthy of a biopic.

For someone NOT addicted to opium his achievments are bloody impressive. When he lived up here in the Lakes he was known to purchase more than his fair share of Kendal Black Drop - a mixture of opium, vinegar and nutmeg (made and sold by Quakers).

I agree Barrie. R.O.T.A.M. is for me the best narrative poem ever written.

Can you drop me a pm as to where I can find The Quaker outlet? I fancy a bit of Kendal Black Drop. Purely for research purposes. I've got the ague and my knees are killing me!

Apparently it's made exclusively for use in Westminster and Jesuit colleges - I'm afraid you'll have to boil up a bit of willow bark for the pain - try adding a little amanita muscaria for entertainment while the analgesic takes effect.
