Carbon-dating Adam's loincloth (101).
The latest question hatched
from her eyebrows;
How old is The Earth?
It'll be four and a half billion
next month, babe.
Why do you ask?
Hoisted brows sired another;
Adam met Eve four and
almost a half billion years ago?
That depends if you believe
the wise men
or the clever men, honey.
Eyebrows chevronned inwards;
Can't a man be both
wise and clever, uncle?
Some men try, snookums,
but they get confused sometimes.
What do you think?
The eyebrows paused then shrugged;
I think there's too many questions,
but not too many answers.

I think someone has a very wise little niece . . . if not a little gobby
Much enjoyed Neil, thanks.

And yeah, I love the totally-innocent-and-yet-completely-patronising monikers. Clever.
I enjoyed reading this, it raised a half-smile that lingered for the whole poem. You catch the inflection of a bright, inquisitive child's voice in just the right tone. Good poem. Should you be here in the beginner's section?
I cannot help but wonder; now which do you call yourself?

I read it yesterday and enjoyed the conversation between you and your niece. Smiles. Clever words deftly woven.

Enjoyed this, Neil. Felt a bit let down by the ending, though - last verse a bit bland?

Aru, Ros.
Thanks for reading, and glad you enjoyed.
Ros, perhaps you're right about the ending. I wanted to keep the childs voice, but give it a slightly wiser tone. I'm not sure if that quite worked. I'll have a think about it.
Best,
- Neil.

Man I loved reading this poem.
I really like the portrayal through the eyebrows.. it's very imaginative.
I don't know about anyone else but I was moving my eyebrows along with it
Also, the endearing terms 'honey' etc really added to the liveliness of the piece.
It felt real.
Well done mate.. big thumbs up from me.

Thanks, offelias!
I thought this one had played-out, so it's nice to get more comments.
The eyebrows are real. I can see how my niece is thinking by checking her eyebrows - a trait she seems to share with her aunt (my wife).
The words themselves were fictional, but this conversation did happen.
The pet-names are also real (to an extent anyway) .
Cheers again.
