Beer Goggles

You were
The plainest Jane
At seven.
By nine
you were
quite frankly
divine.

At ten I was
moved by lust
to have you
that night
was a must.

I patiently
waited
till twelve
was struck
to move
and chance
my lusty luck.

Induced by
hops and yeast,
I viewed you
as my
delicate
feast.

Unzip
Unfold
Enter
Caress
In the
Drunken
Mess
Undress
Euphoria
A phantasmagoria
No-less.

I awoke
at eight,
discovered
you’d gone.
I suppose
You
too
Had
Goggles
On.

It reminds me of of Chuck Berry's Thirteen Question Method in a funny sort of way -

Question number one: you wanna have fun, uh hun
Question number two: what to do ?
Let’s see!
Question number three: wanna go out and eat burger with me ?
God almighty!
For the thirteen question method is the one to use
Now the question number five: don’t give me no jive this morning
Question number six: don’t try no tricks, this evening
Question number seven: I’ll pick you up at a quarter to eleven, baby
And question number eight: it’s a date

It's not a new theme but you've managed to put your own stamp of originality on it. I would say drop the article before phantasmagoria.

I like it - good one

Not often I laugh out loud at a poem but this one did it!It made for an uncomfortable start, though, as I began believing age rather than time was being referred to, as most people will, I guess. Hops and yeast / Hopes and rising? I thought it was great. Isn't there a great deal of sexual innuendo on this site at the moment? I blame the moderators.

Aren't people absurd! They never use the freedoms they do have but demand those they don't have; they have freedom of thought, they demand freedom of speech.

Nice one merlin

Unfortunately I can relate to some of this, but then wisdom acquired through the passage of life teaches us that personality is the most important thing to look for.

I enjoyed

to anticipate touching what is unseen seems far more interesting than seeing what the hand can not touch

Thanks everyone for looking in... 8)

Barrie - Yeah - well worn theme...tried to be as original as poss...thanks for your suggestion, agree to drop the article... 8)

Ray - Pleased you had a laugh - I don't know why but I often start poems seriously and end up turning them into a humourous write...the age thing wasn't intentional, but more a by-product....but of course, I saw it immediately as I was writing it...

Pits - thats a nightmare....you want them to be gone , don't you!...lol :D

Dante - yeah - I knew you would have tee-shirt...

Mesmie - Gary Glitter - holy furk!

Mick - pleased you enjoyed it.... I hark back to them good old days sometimes...

Well done with this. I like the layout; sort of gives the impression of the night moving along and the magical transformation of 'plainest Jane'. Show me a man who hasn't been there and I'll show you a fibber!
Funny and true - who could ask for anything more.
