[ String of Tanka ]

behind
a rain curtain
her blurred face
on the mirror-plane
fading fingerprints

her smile echoes
from distant valleys
all around me
an aimless rain
moribund reflections

monsoon-kisses
enliven the embers
I ruminate
what if a sandalwood
loses its scent

walking by a lake
I discover
full grown lotus
embraced by fog
and cottonwood seeds

What a lovely feel good poem really like it, smooth sounding easy on the eye and very vivid words, love all of it, " What if sandalwood looses its scent. " and the final line, "Embraced by fog and cotton wood seeds." absolutely wonderful.Think the title is perfect and drew me to your poem. I thought what a lovely title I will have a look at that, glad I did wasn't disappointed. Thank you for brightening up my wet Friday morning. X
