Does God have something to say?

Two lean elderly gentlemen, seated
on a garden bench, grumbling over recent
global warming and recession updates,
were startled to notice a minute object
plunging down from heaven. Even before
they could react, the celestial entity crashed
to the ground, splitting in two.

The blackened rocks have been preserved
in a local Museum, kept under a watchful
security cover. Since then, fewer people
visit the park. A meeting has been convened
in the Community Hall for next Sunday.

I liked this :)
I'm a Christian and expected to be offended when I opened the poem
Usually I'd resist, but I like the sound of your work, so I couldn't just leave it un-opened.

I found it very interesting,
It has the feel of another poet which I studied in high-school, but I honestly can't remember who.

It's perhaps more 'prose-y' than 'poem-y', but I think it works well as a poem, it's simple, easy to relate to with a wry twist :)

I like it

Does God have something to say?
Clever this, many layers.

You have the two old gents discussing "global warming" which has been known to create bizarre instances of sky fallage. Then you have "fewer" people visiting the park - perhaps a dig at the mass hysteria syndrome of today? Then of course you have the "meeting" at the "community hall" I can just imagine the attendees!

Prose obviously, but very subtle, liked it.
