Kevin, I believe you can do it. Start by just thinking of another quatrain, 4 lines, and take a step back and ponder it.
If you sonnet this... I will push myself to do one as well. I have been wanting to but drag my feet!

Kev,
My first thought was : it's a wee bit corny
My 2nd thought was : you'd get away with it if it were a lyric (which seems so appropriate, given the title)
-you'd need more verses, of course

Yea! you got a point there. I think I could come up with a couple of verses and a chorus but would need the help of someone musical to provide a melody I think.

I'm with the "feels incomplete" brigade.
Where or how it goes from there is up to you but I feel that having set up the questions there needs to be some form of response.
As a song? I'm not so sure. We all have tunes that evoke memories and a song implies a tune which could ruin the illusion. Anyway (IMHO) very few songs make good poems, even great ones, try reading the words of "No woman, no cry"

It all depends on the melodies playing, weather which era of my mind I tend to visit,
nice short piece.
