He didn’t sing, but here’s the thing -
he stands for those who are unsung!

Short and to the point, Katherine.
I think you've penned a cracking couplet that typifies the 'less is more' philosophy.
Would I like to read more? Yes. Does the poem NEED more? Not really.
The poem is metered, yet everything flows naturally and the content positively sings.
There's no mistaking that title.

Caught my attention, made me smile, made me think, made me smile. see.Katherine wrote:He didn’t sing, but here’s the thing - ...Very current. You have two lines of perfect iambic tetrameter and a pretty cool internal rhyme.
he stands for those who are unsung! ...The slant rhyme of 'sing' and 'sung' is particularly subtle.

I believe he's agreed to do a Queen song next time. The smart money's on Fat-Bottomed Girls, a duet with Diane Abbott.Macavity wrote:Neatly done. Interesting times. Though he has agreed to sing in future. The 'education' of Jeremy begins

In and out, very concise.
At first it left me wanting more, but I think this is actually a strength with a single couplet - perhaps it sticks in the reader's mind for longer?

Thanks for the kind responses peeps. x
Why a republican atheist should be expected to sing 'God Save the Queen', is a mystery to me and I'm a practising Catholic (crap at it, but practice makes perfect ) and I like Liz II - God bless her! But, I'm a grown-up! x
