Ok folks I was able to access a computer where I am now. We're having a series of thunderstorms raging in Florida. Therefore, my party decided to wait it out before heading north to home.

April 23rd prompt: Write a double elevenie/http://www.napowrimo.net/.

GOOD Grief!!!! My group has changed their minds. They want to brave the storms and leave like NOW!!!

Gotta go.

P.S. Pick your own alternative prompt, if you wish. But, the official one does sound like fun. Hopefully I'll be able to get back home and post mine by midnight (eastern standard time).

Prompt: Double elevenie

Rain or Shine

Rain fell
on the old
Spanish tile.
making it
serenade again.

The searing sun
beats down
and burns
both kings
and pigs.

Luce

P.S. Still stuck in Miami. We're waiting the storms out.

[prompt: double elevenie]

sparrow
plucking blossom
on the wing
returns to its nestbox
fervently

sparrow
perching aloft
on the rowan
sounds a cat alarm
frantically

[totally true story]
wisteria
glares mauve ~
sleepless dawn

I wouldn't know a good elevensie if it bit my ahem, but I enjoyed these.

Luce and Crayon,

Great efforts and not surprisingly I thoroughly enjoyed the sparrow tale.
I was thinking about a bird elevensie myself.

JJ

OK! Here's my first ever elevenie. Still think it should be elevensie for the sheer fun of the word.

Gusts
gyrate ruthlessly
force the pansies
to drop their shivering
faces

Lupins
fan out
leaf by leaf
with columns of glorious
colour
Long time a child and still a child

Great poems guys. I liked them both. The form reminded me of a haiku except it was a definite five lines and less than 17 syllables.

I must confess my submission (the sun part) sounds more like a fortune cookie than a poem.

Yes, I was sharply reminded of haiku. I think it's the potential for nature observations
with cause and effect playing a central role.

Really like this one Ian. You made the skeptic sound very real. I'm surprised you didn't mention the absent "expiration date" on the "eye of newt" though :D .
