Shards - lifeless feathers
strewn across the bitchamen
a piece of wing
a long elegant neck
refracting light
in piercing lines
hard, cold, into the shadows.

Even a swan has a love child.

hey

love the starkness of this, the image of the white of the swan on the dark of the road was really striking

refracting light
in piercing lines
hard, cold, into the shadows.

Benjy :)

*whisper* bitchamen is spelt bitumen :)

I agree with benjy. The tight, fragmentary form reflects well the bleakness of the imagery. Nicely done.

Yes Yesterday, stark image indeed. Nice one. Minimalist. Only just realised you're from Albany - lived near melbourne for eight years of my childhood (my two sisters still live there).
Thanks for your poem.

Jester i think u've got the wrong 'Albany' there are a few... mines in Western Australia... nowhere near melbourn...

by the way.. i read in the paper the other day that swans 'the symbol of long lasting love and faithfulness..... have love children....'
