Porcupine's Howl

First heard during the power outage.
Wishing to see it, he listens
through showers on the shack's roof;
watches through the shack's spotted window.

Through the fog, a form crosses the meadow.
Shuffling home numb, he prepares
to change his crusted clothes.

The things we'll do for love and hope and just get rain and despair - I love the atmosphere and the possible interpretations.

I really like this.

Simple and effective.

Porcupines howling is strangely amusing. As Barrie says, the images are endless.

Well done

I enjoyed the imagery this painted. There are a lot of subtle textures that work really well like;

Shuffling home numb, he prepares
to change his crusted clothes.

Assuming (and it may not be) this was the porcupine on the road home to change his/her crusted clothes, I got a sense out of something out of a children's fairytall like something done by Beatrix Potter. It was a pretty subtle image for me but I found it gave kind of a pleasentness to the whole poem. That's at least how I saw it.

Very nicely done,

I'll admit, the kind of fairytell image I described towards the end of this in my last post, was an injustice as I was not meaning to imply this poem reads like one. It certainly wasn't meant to discredit your piece and make it seem silly or child-like. I just feel a certain mystique with the imagery throughout this and at the end I felt a sense of humanity about this being (porcupine). That to me seemed warm, "pleasant." The underlying current however, is to me a sense of sadness and that of being alone. Perhaps a feeling, of often not being heard or understood 'cept for a howl during a power outage when everything is quiet. Enough said, I liked it a lot.
