I met a young woman on an Esperanto site, and she sent me this poem. She calls herself "La Versinjist'" which is rather untranslatable, so I went with "The Poetrix."
It's unpublished, but I got her permission to translate it. I'm gonna post her Esperanto poem before my translation--because believe me; it's much better.

La Versinjist'
Mi konis viron kiu
havis amikinojn tri;
unu da ili estis mi.
Kiel honestema lia vizaĝ’
kiam daŭre li malpravis
ke min, nur min, li amis!
Pro tio ke mi estis senscia,
li pensis min esti tre stulta,
kaj ke li estis tre saĝa.
Eble li cerbegon havas; ne gravas,
ĉar nun tri inoj sperte atestas
ke lia kaceto al ĉiu neniam plaĉas!

There was a little man who had
not one girlfriend, but three.
One of them was me.
Every time he lied,
his face appeared to be so honest.
“I love you, just you!” he promised.
Because I bought these lies of his,
he thought of me as foolish,
and himself, a genius.
Maybe he was large in brain matter. No matter:
now, from experience, three ladies testify
to his little cock & how it could not satisfy!

Is that what Esperanto looks like? I'm surprised. It looks very like, say, Czech or Hungarian (not related, I know) or something like that. I had thought it would have more of a romance influence.
Anyway, it reads like one of those middle European fables, so that's not a bad result.
