Bloody hell Mac.
100+ views and not a soul had anything to offer you re your paintings.
I will say you are not presenting them in the best light.
Shot down on the dining room table, " Ere, av done these. Wadda ya think?"

Ok.
Here goes.
If I remember rightly, you paint in watercolour.
A very, very unforgiving medium.
So hats of to you there, for being brave enough to take on that bitch.
You do seem to have control over this medium.
Your colours have not bled and your trees look like trees
your house looks like a house and so on.
However, ( and I know you paint for pleasure but....) check out the perspective.
Especially in the third painting.
Your trees are great but....they are all the same size.
Look at the size of your house.
Holy jayzus. How big is the tree behind it?????

Also.
I hate saying this but, it all looks rather flat.
I love the shadows you put below the trees, so you are more than aware of light and shade.
Mac, I know this is only a hobby for you but I feel ( with a bit more effort and thought ) you are capable of producing more than a dabble.

PS. If you don't paint in watercolour the above still stands :)

PPs. Great effort in keeping this site active.
You're all over the place.
Good on ya :D

Thanks for taking a look Pauline. I do have fun with painting. The first painting is in oils and the tree paintings are in watercolours: angry woman/couple/family in my head. Mrs Mac also thinks my trees are too big and my paintings have become more 'unreal' (Mrs Mac calls my latest arboreal fun lego trees :D) I do have some one point perspective efforts lying around somewhere, but my dabblings have gone more free verse as it were  . Hope all is well with you (and perhaps you have some work to share?)

thanks again

That's grand.
I'm contradicting myself here but, who's to say something is right and wrong?
I've gotten to a point that I have finally stopped beating myself up because I don't do photo realism and I accept what I paint is more a feeling for, rather than an accurate, painstaking depiction of what's in front of me.

Tell ya what. I'll post one I did just yesterday.
I went for a walk with one of my boys, over to a place called Cod beck in Osmotherley, N Yorks.
It's a 20 minish drive up the road from me.
Gawjus place.
Like I say, it's not detailed. It's a very lose impression of what I saw and felt.

Keep up the good work Mac. :D

Agreed, though 'craft' will always nag in my mind, though I got the anger I wanted in the woman representation and the tree 'family' relationship to the house was a reflection of value in my world. More internalised perspective I know :)

best

Doesn't nag at my mind Mac.
Probably because I'm not overly clued up on the subject.
I kinda just go with what I like.
I've not studied Art, or been to college so my mind is free to explore.
My studio partner who has a degree in Art told me he has spent the last 10 years trying to forget what he learned in college. :)
