all sacrificed in competition

A dialogue so sweet and gentle,

and monologue ensue from there,
assailing gratingly, the ear.

May I suggest that you start reviewing other poems and chiming in every once in a while? I personally don't mind, but I fear the moderators will start deleting these poems. So say the rules.

I'm curious to know what the actual title of the poem is - Social Intercourse, or Talk and Conversation. You actually threw me off with that your last poem as well. But it matters little. Titles are generally easy to replace and easy to come by.

It is an all around good poem - my favorite of the three you've posted. One thing I saw that I thought worthy of mentioning:

"Courtesy, manners and conversation
all sacrificed in competition
to utter words that forms a block,
so companions make no answer back."

This stanza seems to me to hold the most substance in the poem, but it also seems to be the least eloquent.

It's from an announcement entitled "REVIEW REVIEW REVIEW" posted by Nicola last year...up at the top of this very forum. I don't know if it is still in effect, but that's what I've gone by.

Now that's not fair. Annoying speakers in general have their place in this piece - not just me!

I'm still too used to other much stricter forums. I should have known you were all too far relaxed and understanding of the creative mind to hold someone to a rule like that. Ironically, it's what makes this place great.

I suppose if the law fits, don't break it. For the sake of the more easily bruised egos out there (not just here), I stick to the old adage: "If you can't say anything good, then don't say anything at all." So, I critique those which I can find at least one positive thing to comment on.

For me, silence is its own criticism, and one of the sternest.

I despise rules in general, you should act on your own morals, and so therefore of course it makes sense to at least try to critique the odd poem, only fair really.

It is difficult to find something to say on every poem posted, and that behaviour shouldn't really be encouraged, or you WILL find yourself in a "Love In"

But everything in moderation.

No offence to Cam or Nicola, this is a fine fine forum, rules are rules, but the sensible can surely ignore them.

Hi Guys and Gals

Sorry for delay in responding to this one. We've been busy re-jigging the glossary of poetic terms .

The 'Review, Review, Review' post was written a long time ago before the forum really got going and all you intelligent people joined. (We've now taken it off and amalgamated it with the guidelines). I think it's really just a question of 'give and take' not an absolute decree. Obviously the forum will only work if people get their poems reviewed but hey 'go with the flow'. If you've got nothing to say about a poem, then say nothing.

I kinda assumed no-one reads the rules anyway.
