No one races a cripple
or kicks at their legs.
Nobody waves to the blind
or ever calls up
mute friends on the telephone.
So why shout at the deaf folks?

Well, you might not be sure how deaf they are - they could just be partially deaf, or hard of hearing. But yes, if you know they're completely deaf - deaf as a post, so to speak - then there's really no need to shout.

my personal favorite: obnoxiously loud and slow pronunciation of English for those that don't speak it.
