I looked for our love in poetry,
But found only rhyme.
I searched for your touch in prose,
But found only words.
Maybe those who understand it,
And can put love on a page,
Are too busy being lovers,
To find the perfect couplet.
They know only love, not poetry,
Makes "me" rhyme with "you".

clever, clever...romantic, bordering on the cheesy, but pulled back from the brink by the ingenious word play.
I'd forgotten that earnest love poetry existed! Clever, succinct and completely without irony.
And interesting comment on the nature of writing poetry - when you're writing, you aren't living! One reason why I get absolutely fuck all writing done most of the time - I'm scared I'll be missing out and seek company instead.
Good to see love persists somewhere.
