River repelled by
a succulent levee
all spiny and evergreen
even its flowers are forbidding.

Boulders of uneroded granite
wart the hills slope, distinguishing
the most haggard of seasons.

And Live Oaks deadened by
perrennial miseltoe sprawl out and
up, shading and shelter the deer in
hunting season.

A fence like thread to a bear or floodwater,
twisted by years of silt and gutted ewes—
spread across the turf: ageless, undecaying
wool draped higgledy-piggledy on
the downstream side.

Never keep Dorsetts.

This is no place for abstract sheep poetry.

Dorsetts: White faced, North U.K. (Scotland) dumb-fuck sort of sheep. Not that any sheep is particularly intelligent.

Agree with 1201 - the last line could go. I (like Kris) enjoy your descriptive stuff - particularly your nature poems. More sheep and less smut please (LOL).

I second that Keith,

descriptive work is very high - first rate son !

I'am biased ...but I prefer bad langauage and swearing to be left on the street, the football oval, at union movements and military coups, in fact i hear enough of it everyday in rap songs , hip hop etc do I want to read
it also ?

you create poetic object of beauty using language - bad language can only detract your efforts

sorry keith only my POV - LOL

cheers

All points well taken. Perhaps I shall be more judicious with my profanity...

perhaps...
