This is called Alpha & Omega. Please persevere with it.I know length can be intimidating.Isn't that right ladies?

I have stood closer to heaven than the Tower of Babel
Played I-Spy in the Garden of Eden with Cain when he still loved Abel
In a desert stable I witnessed a miracle
Heard angels sing a song so lyrical the words grew wings
And became the empirical truth from the mouth of the youth
Whose second coming prophets have foretold

I have seen the arctic wastelands freeze cold
Long before the Earth was old
And the lives of men were bought and sold
I would stand amongst the stars and behold orchestras of light
Ignite atoms into being
I have been seeing visions in the sky
Known that sometimes pigs really do fly
Since before Nostradamus was a boy
Trust, its all good...

Centuries later I wore a hood
Running with a band of very merry men I was robbin'
From the rich and the greedy, giving to the poor and the needy
So many oppressed folk yelling feed me!
Such a seedy carry on from a so-called 'Prince' John...
I could go on and on but I won't
Could spit Hellfire and damnation but I don't

In the Anglo civil war which saw brother from brother torn
I was the thorn in both red and white roses
Like Moses I have parted seas for many a displaced pedestrian
Accomplished equestrian of course
I built and delivered a certain horse to once mighty Troy
Went home ate breakfast then fashioned the first toy for the first boy
On the first Christmas Day, and come what may
I have lasted
For 40,000 days and nights I fasted
Father to so much life yet still I am considered a bastard

Yes it is true that I have been lower than low
Navigated ice cold depths where the fiery embers of Hell no longer glow
Where mortal men would fear to go
And so through these veins ancient memories flow
Now I commit this knowledge to pages
With pen and ink map and trap the stages
Through which I travel deciphering mysteries that unravel
Like sublime lines to the divine
They inspire and inform my rhymes
Best believe that I have been doing this since before the dawn of time
Before the planets started to turn
Before the bees and birds and Adam and Eve occurred
Prior to all creation in other words
And when the female egg merge with the mans sperm I stand firm

I've got words that burn through evil's exterior
And eat away at the interior
My ancient wisdom is superior
And with just one verse I could extinguish all futures, presents and pasts
Because I am Alpha
I am Omega
The beginning and the end
The first and the last.

Phew!PEACE

I know your dance and i danced down the page with this poem. I read it three times. I find this is the minimum attention a poem should get. Reading this poem of yours made me want to read another. Your mind holds the pen well and your heart pumps your ink. You are a fine poet.

I have to agree with kj, that truly is an amazing poem.
It reads so well that the length isn't a problem.
excellent.

this is very good indeed - the more i read of your poems the more i get into them. this is particularly ingenious:

"Running with a band of very merry men I was robbin'
From the rich and the greedy"

very nice pun.

Incidentally, who is the "I"? is the poem about reincarnation, someone who has been everyone? or is it about God?

You show a great knowledge of human history and of our philosophical place in it, ranging from Biblical times to our own day. An immensely enjoyable read and one I imagine would be eminently performable.
