(Its close to midnight, I figured, fuck it.)

These people seem to emanate (motor homes, kitschy
blue Gingham, cheap made in China trinkets, false teeth and all)
directly from the pine trees behind us.
Gypsies, I swear it, the men all gnarl-handed like root stocks—
dirt stained fingerprints included and the women with whimsical green
personalities—genetically tailored to suit their bandanas.
Yet in spite of the nicotine grins and their sun
scorched skin—I am drawn to rummaging,
compelled by a deal-seeking demon, through five
dollar antiquities and authentic relic replicas.
“Half off on the throwing hatchet? I can’t pass that up.”
A mountain peddler’s faire
Suprised this has remained unposted amongst your 'collection'. Really clicked with me this one. ' These people seemed to emanate........directly from the pines trees behind us'. Gave me a sense of small town mistrust for strangers, especially wierd ones. Again you give your writing a dark undertone which, at times, is very difficult to pin down and very alluring. Also got a great sense of vibrant colour from this poem with only green being mentioned, perhaps the word gypsy did it.
A lot said and lots of images in a relatively short piece.
btw. when are you giving us next installement of short story re. scary mountain man that likes to behead with a spade?
David.

David,
Glad you liked it. Just so you know, you're not the only one who's asking about Tommy. I suppose I shall have to make the next chapters presentable.
Cheers,
Keith

These lines are excellent...
"Yet in spite of the nicotine grins and their sun
scorched skin - I am drawn to rummaging,
compelled by a deal-seeking demon, through five
dollar antiquities and authentic relic replicas."
The imagery elsewhere isn't quite as good, and maybe needs looking at again.

Well doesn't necessarily have to be as intense. ( re. tommy). Could just be him sitting in his shack, whittling something, piece of bone perhaps. His thoughts. Something unusual cooking. Get on with it!
