Depression Prevention - Revised

Power up my positivity cells, fully charge them and let the energy run
through my veins. Destroy the obstructions, cleaning as you go.

Run the negativity cells flat and throw them out. No point in
recycling. Block all the holes you find, close all doors and windows.

There’s a spray in the kitchen cupboard marked Clarity, use it if
all else fails. It’s very expensive though, so apply sparingly.

You’ll find the necessary music and mood lifters in obvious
places. I’m difficult to decipher, you’ll need to experiment.

If maintained correctly I can be happy and positive for
hours, even days. If neglected I’ll need a thorough overhaul.

Emergency numbers are in my little pink phone book.
Your diligence in these matters will be rewarded.

Rachel,

The line breaks need not always be at sentence breaks. Sometimes this retards the flow.

Mustn't retard things too much.

the problem with this approach to depression is that you essentially divert your focus from it. what should actually be done is face it and discover its reasons. confront them and work on flatenning them out. that said, i realize that depression is not that simple and the confrontation of the cause hurts like hell. it is, however, inevitable unless one is content to live an existance of futile methods of warding it off. i too am depressed and have turned to drugs, rock, sex, and alcohol to deal with my problems and i can say, it doesn't really help. the best it does is numbingly uplift my spirits for a while. i need to face my own demons so all i can really say without being an asshole is: good luck.

ps. good poem

Hiya, Thanks for your thoughts on depression. I totally agree with you. It best to find the root of the depression and deal with it rather than distract yourself. However if the depression remains after you've looked at the roots and is beyond your control then the only means of release is distraction. Well thats what Ive found anyway. :)

Im glad you liked the poem. :D

that's true enough. sometimes the causes are beyond your control as well and that leads to a downwards spiral. never fun, never done. so goes life.
