Curriculum non vitae

On my CV, under
"Additional information"
I dared to say,
"In my spare time,
I also write poetry".
I was told,
"This is like admitting you're a train spotter!
One look at that, they'll think you're a geek
and it'll go straight in the bin!
People have 'preconceived ideas' of 'poets'!
It doesn't look good, take it out!"
Never mind the qualifications;
the training, the years of experience then.
One day, I'll apply for a job as a poet
and on my CV it will say,
"In my spare time,
I like train spotting"

Good to see you again.
This was a pleasant reminder to me, as a salesman by day, that we really are the black sheep of society.
C'est la vie, say the old folks. It goes to show you never can tell.
Cheers,
Keith

Hah hah! Cute and cool, but I think this would be a better ending:
One day, I'll apply for a job as a poet
and on my CV it will say,
"In my spare time,
I also write poetry."

A couple of business points to note re your cv:
1. You need a full stop before the ending-quotation marks in lines 5 and 17. Employers will spot the incorrect punctuation, no job for you.
2. Best not to tell them your hobbies. 9 times out of 10, an employer wants to know about your employability, not how you spend your evenings.

Fine as a little ditty, and I agree totally.
People's views on poetry are so outdated.

"fine as a little ditty" talk about being damned with faint praise!

camus, your web site looks very slick but it did make feel a tiny bit motion sick! Very professional looking though, when's the poetry gonna be on there?
