Never really bothered keeping in touch
with mates from uni -
can’t say I think about Bob much,
or Will, or that puny bloke
I met in Irish lit., the one who spoke
with a phony fecker accent. What was his name?
I hung around with him all the same.
I barely think about old pals at all.
I changed my number:
I expect that’s why they don’t call.
Yes, I’m cool as a cucumber, getting
on with life, no time for internetting,
browsing through Friends Reunited,
witnessing my aloofness indicted.

Kaj,
I find myself doing the same thing. Very lonesome, almost melancholy. I liked the easy rhyme, the deliberate skip on uni was a nice touch. I hung up on internetting and the hyperlink...but I couldn't say how you'd change it.
Good stuff.

It must have happened, but I have never seen a hyperlink in a poem before. What a startling premise.
That aside, the rigid structure comes off as quite fluid and casual.
Nice one.

K-J,
I agree with Keith about "Internetting" - having said that I googled
it and got thousands of hits!
I like the interplay of "internetting/browsing" and "witness/indicted".
The out-line is brilliant.
Nice one
Geoff

Whoops, forgot about this.
Thanks all for the responses.
David, spot on. A Study of Reading Habits was in my mind all along without my realising. I was aware I was under the influence of something, but I couldn't figure out what.
