This is a word-cloud exercise. Click the link below to see the word-cloud (you will need Java working in your browser).

Study the cloud and try to find groups of words which inspire you to some sort of poem. You do not need to use every word and you can add as many extra words as you need to build the scaffolding around them.

You can also adjust the words' exact forms: run -> ran, train -> trained, horse -> horses etc.

Cloud

There is no end-date for the exercise, I will put another one up in a week or so...

Ian

p.s. Guess the source of the words...

If everyone were to sing wordless
melodies to express horror
and sadness which fills the spaces
where happiness is driven away
perhaps tears would dampen their notes.
In bursts that drift across orchards
many voices sharing freedom
to delight birds and lift the dawn
where sun comes wildly flickering
warming feathered hearts to flight.
And rightly so, just let thought be
no prison breached by speaking out
or splayed because your demon says
just raise a hand and swat that twat away.
to anticipate touching what is unseen seems far more interesting than seeing what the hand can not touch

Sang voice must burst wildly
should we ever find a way
and go away and move away
and set a wry smile to the face
that watches all its planning go awry.

Suddenly everyone, shaken freedom winging,
spews wordless white tears
for the horror
far across the orchard's heart
and watches the lifted songbird
drop
done like beauty.

Gaaah this is hard. I tried my best ;__;

The tears and horrors we all share
are bottled in delicate mason jars.
We always worry the seal will break,
and out will leak the invisible scars.

I long for a song to burst wildly from my lips
like a wild and crazed beast.
But the jars weigh to heavily on my chest;
my breath and pulse remain too weak.

Until then, I allow the sun to drench
rich shades of freedom upon my prison bars.
I will bide my time and wait
dusting the tops of my horrific mason jars.
"As a general rule, people, even the wicked, are much more naïve and simple hearted then we may suppose. And we ourselves are, too."

I am moved to tears of delight as
the world suddenly erupts into song
as the sun rises on a new day
and the song birds give voice to
a wordless beauty of singing
and I feel everyone should hear this
bold expression of avian freedom.
I am not a number ... I am a FREE man!
