Hurrah, just had one accepted by Snakeskin, an old one (of course)

Not hurrah - rejected by "The Journal"

Email included:

You might like to note what passes for The Journal's editorial policy '...to try to publish those poems — from wheresoever they may come — written with thought to what the poem is saying and to how it is being said. Also welcomed are poems that can travel, that can cross boundaries, that do not assume in their readers a shared knowledge nor a shared set of beliefs. And it will be a rare day when I take a poem about being a poet or about the writing of poems. Also, because my aim is to keep The Journal secular, any poem containing religious terminology will not be considered for publication.'

Not quite sure if this is their standard rejection reply (I'm thinking it is ?)

Congratulations on Snakeskin Kris, shame about the Journal at least their reply was better than the one I got from Magma which suggested I go an join a writing/critique group to learn more about poetry. Know any good critique groups?

Seriously Ben? Wow. Part of me thinks it was nice of them to offer advice, but the rest of me is thinking "Cheeky gits!"

Here's a decent workshop.

Brilliant! Sorry, Ben, had to laugh. Actually, I have suggested this to someone who submitted to Antiphon, but they were no where near as good as you :D

Ouch, that is harsh! I'd be questioning that for far too long!

Of the 3 places I've been published I found each to have a rather laissez faire approach, which suits me.

I guess it's all about sussing who suits you, your poetry and your approach.

It's great though to see posts on here when someone is recognised, warms the cockles.

Great stuff, Kris. I like this one a lot (although I'm still impressed you got away with a mole missing his / hole).

And well done Brian too.

Cheers

David

P.S. I recently got a nice comment from Annette Volfing on a poem of mine in Snakeskin. I wondered how she'd stumbled across it. Now I know.

Would that be Annette(medievalist)Volfing?

Googled, obviously.

Yeah I like that option of being able to comment on others poems. A simple email link but effective.

Yes, that one slipped right under the radar!
