I'm delighted to announce that we've published our first issue: http://www.antiphon.org.uk/index.php/current-issue
and I'd like to thank all from PG who have submitted and supported this venture, whether we've published you or not. Especially in the first few weeks it was PG members who submitted and made me think the whole idea might just work. I hope you all enjoy reading the first issue and will continue to submit to future issues. Please come and comment on the forum if you'd like to discuss particular aspects of the mag.
PG continues its world takeover!

Our pleasure Cathy - we thought it was a little bit of a risk, as it's not quite as immediately accessible as some, but we liked it so much!
David, glad you enjoyed it.

Looks great Ros, I like the theatrical layout. I haven't had a chance to read through properly yet, hopefully I'll get a quiet moment later.

Yay! Just finished reading it and am well impressed.
Plus I think you have the size just right. As you know I used to be involved in Triggerfish Critical Review and we used to include 30+ poems in each edition and it was too much. Possibly a bit like sizing it as if it was a paper magazine to be absorbed over several nights, but web-stuff rarely works that way. People come and want to absorb the whole thing _now_ -- and if they don't finish then 50:50 they'll forget to come back for the second half.
So nice one guys! Keep up the good work.

Yes, agree. Size is just right. Layout is imaginative and accessible. Just going back to have another read...

Thanks, all. Think perhaps I'd like another four or so poems, but we'll see... it's quite laborious, setting it all up, so we're never likely to be huge!

And I love having the last poem. No-one follows the Davester! Or, more likely, you just managed to squeeze me in at the end there.delph_ambi wrote:Yippee!

Anyway, thanks. The mag is a thing of beauty, and you and Noel should be very proud. Huzzahs!
By the way, I'm not sure Michaela's poem isn't the best thing in there. It was always one of my favourites.

Thanks, chaps. We put David at the end as it seemed to round off the idea of poetry and perhaps warn us not to get too arrogant.
Of those who have mentioned their favourite poem, they've all been different. So I'm pleased that most people seem to be finding something to like.

I'd like to think we could all be happy about this comment, not just those involved in Antiphon!

I've been befriending poets on Facebook over the last few days. Even though I don't actually know them. You don't expect them to email you back, do you? I got this from Alison Brackenbury last night:"I very much enjoyed your Antiphon poem, which I thought was beautifully - and very tactfully - written".
I include this here because a) I'm being shamelessly preening etc b) I was honestly gosh pleased surprised, c) I thought Ros might like to know that the magazine is evidently being read by The Faculty
Does she have anything to do with Antiphon, Ros
I should put this quote from the email in the context of the email as a whole, which was mainly about plugging a poetry page of hers (which I've 'liked'). I wouldn't want to make out that she sent a note to me personally just to say how marvelous etc etc.

What a great comment to receive, Michaela! And thanks for posting it - no, she doesn't have anything to do with Antiphon. I think we are being more widely read than we might realise - which is great!
I should thank Catherine, too, who belongs to lots of forums etc and has been publicising us well.

I met Peter and Ann Sansom at a workshop this weekend. She's rather formidable. He's kinda cuddly.

Yup I've been to one of their workshops. Did you enjoy it? I found him a bit vague about my poem, but then it wasn't very good.Mic wrote:I met Peter and Ann Sansom at a workshop this weekend. She's rather formidable. He's kinda cuddly.
