He wasn't good with beef;
too many scraps,
and he so hated
mincing his words.
Better to fillet
sound bites he thought;
fat rendered for later,
bones left for picking.
Can't let it stew,
or simmer untended;
life is too short,
the steaks too high.

Wonderful, just wonderful Neil. You've just now taught me how to use the metaphor.

If the steaks are high, perhaps he should have cooked them sooner...
Very funny, Neil!

Afraid I had to groan at the last line, but it was very much in the spirit of the piece Neil. A good bit of fun.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. This was just a little bit of silly fun. I'm glad you all liked it.
Kindest,
- Neil.

Ditto Ben's groan at the last line, but quite a fitting way to end this fun poem I agree.

I went into the butchers the other day and asked for a piece of beef from the top shelf.
He said: No chance, the steaks are too high!
Very funny. Not the joke, your poem.
