Edition #33 of The Journal is now out: I'm on page 25 and Brian's on page 28. I feel honoured to be in such exalted company.
Yes. Well done you two, and how very alphabetical of you as well.
The Journal was one of the first places I got published, and I subscribed for a while but eventually dropped it. I really think I should take it up again.

Yes, congrats both.

Brian, I asked Sam why yours was taking so long to arrive and he explained it's because he sent it by surface mail rather than airmail. As it is, postage on each issue costs as much as printing it, so he'd soon run out of funds if he used airmail. It HAS been posted, and it WILL arrive.
It's an odd little thing, isn't it? Your poems (both of you) are amongst the best things in it - and, when you get yours, Bri, see if you recognise who's on page 22 (and also good) - but a lot of the poems are fairly poor. There are also some quite splenetic reviews of recently published books and pamphlets, at least one of which seems like a bit of bitter score-settling. Very odd.
I like the format of it, though, and there is some good stuff in it.

Yay! Finally arrived. And great to see not only myself and Cathy, but also Megan (p22) and another acquaintance of mine Jane Spiro (p9). Not had chance to read much of the others yet of course, but I do like the A4 format, which will slip nicely into my briefcase tomorrow!

Congrats, y'all! Are the reviews fun to read, then?
Rosencrantz: What are you playing at? Guildenstern: Words. Words. They're all we have to go on.

That's what I thought, anyway. Doesn't detract from the quality of the poems, of course.David wrote:There are also some quite splenetic reviews of recently published books and pamphlets, at least one of which seems like a bit of bitter score-settling. Very odd.

Yes, some of these reviews are hilarious aren't they? Hilarious in a very bad way that is. Wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of that Paul Murphy - what a nasty little man he is!

The overall quality of the magazine is quite disappointing really. There's only about a dozen poems that I honestly think would be worthy of the Exp board here. It surprises me, as the editor speaks/writes so confidently and knowledgeably. There are more than a few inclusions that are not just not good, but actually very poor.
Still, all good fun isn't it, seeing how we all fit into the bigger picture . . .
