A reply to J. Alfred

J. Alfred...I dare to eat a peach
And stretch my arms out to reach
The things you let slip by.

J. Alfred...I talk with the women of Michelangelo,
Even though I don't know
Anything about him. It doesn’t matter,
It’s only chatter,
And we a eat peaches as we natter.

J. Alfred...I see the mermaids and wave.
I won’t be a slave to the time it takes to drink a coffee
I tell them to walk with me,
And watch with glee
At their dismay. They swim away
From the beach. I just eat another peach.

J. Alfred...I’v never seen my head upon a platter
And never cried about my thinning hair,
Because it simply didn’t matter,
Because I have rolled the universe up in a ball,
And threw it before me and used it all.
See, I always eat peaches, not just because I dare,
Sometimes just because they’re there.
Life gives me peaches.

hi GB

A peachy little reply to the jaded world of Prufrock, though the vacuity of consumption is still evident.
And we a eat peaches as we natter.
typo?

all the best

This is a fun response to J Alf, G. Not quite sure what point you're making - I'm sure there's supposed to be a point, anti-elitism, perhaps - but I enjoyed it.

Cheers

Thanks chaps...no typo, it's meant to be read in a dundee accent...kinda....meaning..?...I just was moved by the feeling of lost or missed opportunity the Elliot's poem instilled in me, and I wrote that as a lighthearted riposte to remind myself to make the most of life....thank you for your comments, gbn

You know I thought the rhythm was quite awkward with this and was gonna suggest so, but I just read it in a Dundee accent and like it much better haha. Nice lighthearted sort of poem.
