The light is coming from the left, didn't you know? Just joking, of course.

Your paintings have a Grandma Moses kind of crudeness to them, but the colors are appealing. I like the bricks that seem to be in everything. I don't know what that orange slash is going across the canvas, but who cares? I like it.
Signature info:
If you don't like the black theme, it is easy to switch to a lighter color. Just ask me how.
If I don't critique your poem, it is probably because I don't understand it.

Thanks Caleb. I'm interested in using the brush in different ways, combining mark making with a more continuous brush stroke. The outcome mostly fails, though the top right yellow/green corner and bottom green/blues are interesting me. Overall I've learnt about achieving some movement. The trees are a mess, but provide some distancing and I did enjoy using a flatter brush. I find the 'orange' section uncomfortable, too much like Klimt.

I find this one by Mondrian more interesting

I do like colourist painting, though I find watercolour is a more limited medium than oils, especially in the reds. Here is a Fauve painting by Matisse:

Nice to see what rolling one's sleeves up brings to aesthetic theory! I like the practicality of your comments, Phil.

Cheers,
John
