NEW POEM: JUST A PIECE OF PAPER

JUST A PIECE OF PAPER

i analyse a piece of paper
i look at the small dots that make the text
amazing if you think about it
thousands of little dots making sense
my attention is diverted to the surrounding white
an area of the canvas left blank
feels flat to touch but not if you look closer
hold the paper nearer, there are darker patches
im trying to see shapes like you would with clouds
i think i can make out an elephant
or maybe it looks more like a car
someone calls my name and stops my paper obsession
perhaps i'm going mad

somehow it reminded me a bit of a friend of mine, strange isn't it, how poems can do that to you?

I enjoyed it in a strange sortof way
