It just dawned on me that we haven't done one of these this year. I enjoyed reading up on what others thought was the best of the site, often I miss things.
Quoting Keith's version of last year's thread:
OK.
Reply to this post with your favorite poems (or prose) from the esteemed poetsgraves poets (in the past year - say, since January 06).
This can be a top ten format if you like, or a top one...however you wish it. A few notes:
1. This is not a competition
2. Nor is it a popularity contest
3. Neither should it indicate any sort of bias beyond preference based on the quality of the poem.
4. Lastly, include in your list a maximum of one of your own posts: this is not about drawing attention to yourself.
This should be fun.

I feel you just can't go past the man 'himself' for his tremendous, tireless work in setting up Poets Graves - so he takes full honors: there are a lot of good quality posts, of course. His recognition in Wikipedia and British National Library for his website, was a powerful motivating factor in my selections - just where would we be be without him ?

Arco,
It's a shame that you spoil a serious thread with sarcasm.
Cheers
Cam
PS you seem to have many issues relating to me and the way I run the site. I'm not entirely sure why you choose to stick around if I'm such a tyrant? After all there are many other poetry forums out there.
You might want to start a new thread in "Discussion" so that you can vent your feelings properly rather than spoiling other threads with various accusations - as you have done in the past. Say what you think, and then either stay and contribute in a normal way or find another site which better suits your needs.

I started off by making a shortlist of all the poems I have really quite liked over the last year or so. Unfortunately, it was a shortlist of 93. It would have been longer, but I was getting tired. Right.
Apart from demonstrating that there has been some seriously good stuff posted here, this was just silly. So I got brutal, and knocked it down to 10.
Besides seriously regretting a load that didn't quite make the final cut, I also established a completely arbitrary limit of one poem per poet. (Had I not done so, and let my list stretch to 20 or so, Keith and Kris would have been the Beatles and the Stones in my personal hit parade.)
Anyway, here's my Top 10. In date order only.
1. In Memory of Steve - juliadebeauvoir
2. Shone Like the Sun - twoleftfeet
3. Playing Indian - pseud
4. Disappointment - thatgirl (whatever happened to thatgirl?)
5. Fancuro - Minstrel
6. Everyday things - ccvulture
7. Ilyusha's Funeral - Absolon's Sword
8. Red Lion Inn, Dunchurch - Barrie
9. Departures - k-j
Oh, and - seriously - 11. - This Be the Verse by Cameron. Cam, I think you should take a paternal pride in what's been done here, if not in your name, in your forum. Rock on.
(Anybody else watch the final episode of Life on Mars tonight? Brilliant!)
Cheers

I tried, but there's 40-odd pages of stuff just in "experienced" since Jan '06. I could do three months at a time, perhaps, but not 15! I think I'll see what everyone else says and just pick from that combined list.

Thanks David,
Yes, I'm very pleased that this site has produced/hosted so much quality stuff. It just goes to show that internet poetry doesn't have to be "junk" poetry. I'm not sure that Faber and Faber are watching yet though. We probably have a bit more convincing to do! (lol)
Yes, I did see the last episode of Life on Mars - a classic piece of television, methinks.
