Slush

Autumn came
with its blazing rows
of trees
Impossible to retrace
our steps
down the flame
licked footpath
beyond recognition
Ready for wastage
the growing green
of first sight
Facing the gutter
and wintry stare
Huddled around
extinguishing embers
widswept, dischevelled
We held hands
through thick wool gloves
and life engufled
our so called
love

by Dawn
But now I only hear
it's melancholy, long, withdrawing roar
-Mattew Arnold
