You microwave your own meals for a change.
In this dank morning, first time you're voting:
not yet drinking age, but minimum wage
is a distant memory, and you might be drafted.

A life of vaccines and resumes awaits
but your defining marks will remain:
your R.E.M. blaring, your pubescent daring
to call your mom by her first name.

And thank you camus for the form.

Am i correct in thinking this good piece is all about Independence,Or even military..Even so forgive me if i have it wrong.

Like this line.....
Thanks Tom...
Imagination is more important than knowledge, knowledge is limited imagination encircles the world.

Rach,

Thanks for your kind words.

Thomas,

Yes you are correct. More about turning eighteen, thus gaining independence and being a target of military drafts...but yes.

ah loved the part about calling Mom by her first name...

Question: Do 18 year olds still listen to REM? I don't really have much contact with this age group at this point.

ah ha! can't argue with that! Well we have something in common besides poetry then :)

I think my 4 year old is gifted. He has already started calling me Jennifer.
Already a punk. This is why they don't draft 4 year olds. Too undisciplined.
